Chinook Summit Bivy Sleeping Bag Tent

The Summit Bivy is an advanced bivy sack system that uses DAC Featherlite aluminum poles to create a self-supporting canopy around the facial area. This allows better breathability and movement without added exposure to the elements.

This bivy is essentially like a sleeping bag with a miniature tent for just your head area. A fully enclosed sleeping bag is suffocating and dangerous, but being exposed to the elements can be a threat as well if the conditions are extreme. The Summit solves this problem with the unique tent/bivy like design by allowing an encapsulated area to protect your head without causing breathability issues.

Great for backpacking, camping (especially in cold, snowy climates), and emergency preparedness.

Bivy Features:
  • Waterproof/breathable fabric top and waterproof ripstop nylon bottom fabric (5000mm)
  • Seams are factory-taped and completely waterproof
  • Facial ventilation system for better breathability
  • Contured hood and comfortable roomy footbox
Bivy Specs:
  • Stuff sack included
  • 91" x 32" x 22"/H 17"
  • 2 lbs (0.92 kg)
  • Waterproof and high breathability
  • Made by Chinook in the USA
  • Comes in Blue or Olive color

Questions and Answers

Q: is it necessary to have a sleeping bag with the Chinook summit bivy bag
Asked by:  - 3/31/2014 (Submit an answer)
A: It mostly depends on the weather/climate you intend to use it in, but generally YES you should supplement it with either a sleeping bag, blanket or at least a sleeping pad. I prefer using a light sleeping pad with a fleece blanket which holds great for 50+. Anything closer to freezing or below I would definitely suggest getting an appropriate sleeping bag. I don't believe this item has a temperature rating so it won't be extremely warm on it's on when it's cold outside.

Chinook Bivy

This bivy is extremely cozy. I honestly love it a lot and have even considered sleeping in it in my house cuz thats how much I like it! Jokes aside, it seems quite durable, breathable which I was afraid of it not being so much. Semi easy set up. All around I give this Chinook bivy a 9 out of 10 (rounded to 5 out of 5)
