IOSAT Potassium Iodide Tablets for Radiation Treatment
IOSAT or Potassium Iodide Tablets (KI) should only be taken in emergency situations when instructed by public officials.
Purpose: In the event of a nuclear radiation emergency, radioactive iodine (not to be confused with iodide) can be released into the air. The Potassium Iodide tablets will help protect the thyroid from uptake of radioactive iodine, which can cause cancer and immediate health risks.
Dosage: If you are ever instructed to take KI tablets, the standard dosage is one tablet of 130 mg for a normal size adult. Taking more will NOT increase effectiveness and will only worsen side effects. Follow the link below for more detailed dosage recommendations and further information on these particular IOSAT pills.
