At only 7.25" when closed, the SOG Entrenching Tool makes a perfect portable shovel. Not too small that it's basically useless, but not too heavy to carry around in your pack. Being fully collapsible, this tool is also useful for free divers, survivalists, and field workers such as geologists and miners.
The earliest version of an 'E-Tool' was created by the Romans. The Batillum was primarily used as a fire shovel at first, but quickly was recognized to have many practical uses. Since then, many modifications have been made to the modern entrenching tool, till we finally have the tool SOG has brought us!
The serrated edge further enhances the versatility of this tool. Cutting and hacking is now a feasible application to what was once a simple folding shovel. Oh and one more thing, if this product wasn't made of extremely durable materials, would SOG be willing to offer a lifetime warranty? Definitely not!
